Listening In: Lessons from Infants and Caregivers in Early Relational Health
Early childhood educators and other practitioners on the front lines with young children and families often feel great pressure to know “what to do” in a broad variety of challenging situations. Drawing on both developmental science and extensive clinical experience, this webinar, presented by acclaimed author, pediatrician and early relational health expert, Claudia M. Gold, M.D., provides evidence that the exact opposite―a stance of not-knowing―helps us find our way into another person’s experience, offering the greatest opportunity for connection, growth, and healing.

The Power of Discord: A Relational Model of Mental Healthcare Rooted in the Developmental Science of Early Childhood
Problems of emotional health and substance use in adulthood typically have deep roots in early childhood. This presentation presents concepts and research from developmental science that inform a new model of mental healthcare. It will offer a perspective on the term “trauma-informed care” that is grounded in developmental processes and relational health. Centered around the power of mismatch and repair and playing in the uncertainty it will show how the very messiness of relationships offers a path to growth and healing.
